Interview with Gao Qian, Frontline Employee of the FGI Board Card Team
Amid the roar of a fume extractor and through haze from a soldering iron, we finally met today’s interviewee—Gao Qian, a frontline worker in the Manufacturing Department’s Board Card Team. Having devoted thirteen years to the team, Gao Qian joined FGI right after graduation. She now works at the PCPA manual soldering station, where she handles boards with irregular shapes or rework needs that machines cannot solder. With solid skills and a meticulous attitude, she has earned honors such as “Skilled Worker” and “Key Employee” in the Manufacturing Department.
The board cards she solders are key components that ensure the efficient operation of the FD5000 medium-voltage drive. Over thirteen years, she has deeply understood how this reliability is built day by day. Each day, she faces complex circuit boards and delicate components. Restlessness is a major taboo. Only by calming down and staying focused can she ensure every solder joint is perfect.
Thirteen years have polished a once inexperienced newcomer into a core member of the team. Looking back on this journey, what touches Gao Qian most is her growth: “I am very grateful to the company for providing this platform. It helped me grow from a newcomer who knew nothing about soldering into a seasoned employee who can independently handle various complex tasks.” Especially during the period when only manual soldering was available, she gained valuable space to grow. Through repeated hands on practice, she accumulated experience and honed her skills.
During her growth, team support has been like sunshine. Whether through collaboration at work or mutual care in life, Gao Qian has felt the warmth of the collective. The special experiences during the pandemic made her cherish this team bond even more. “Although conditions were simple, those days brought us closer, just like a family. Looking back now, those hardships have turned into fond memories.” For the future, Gao Qian holds simple hopes. She wants to keep improving her soldering skills, make fewer mistakes, and deliver better work. She also hopes the company continues to grow, so everyone can shine in their own roles. “Higher quality, fewer errors”—this is not only her New Year’s wish, but also the shared aspiration of countless frontline employees.
