Ferrosilicon is a compound widely used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in industrial production such as steelmaking and casting. People produce ferrosilicon in electric furnaces using coke, steel scrap, and quartz (or silica) as raw materials. The smelting process consumes large amounts of energy and generates significant dust emissions. To prevent environmental pollution and improve energy efficiency, a foreign company plans to install a dust removal fan. This fan will purify the dust produced during smelting and collect it in a hopper.

Implementation Plan

During the production of ferrosilicon in an electric furnace, a dust removal fan sends high-temperature dust into a bag-type reverse-blowing dust collector. A flow baffle installed at the air inlet causes larger dust particles to fall into the hopper through impact and gravity. Fine dust particles adhere to the inner surface of the filter bags. As dust accumulates, resistance increases. Once the resistance reaches a set value, the system begins cleaning the filter bags.

Based on customer requirements and the working principle of the bag-type reverse-blowing fan, we use the independently developed FD5000-6/1120G-1A series high-voltage frequency conversion system. This system matches the customer’s 1120kW asynchronous motor. The solution also includes an automatic one-to-one drive configuration. If a serious fault occurs in the frequency converter, the system automatically switches to power frequency operation. This keeps the load running without stopping. The design avoids production line shutdowns due to single-point failure of the frequency converter. It also extends the overall equipment life and reduces losses from unplanned downtime.
